Searching for an item

The search facility can be found at the top of every page of the site, and allows you to search for an item using a keyword or item number.

An item number is 2 letters and 3 digits long and can be found when you are looking at an item on the website or advert. Simply type the number into the search box and click go. A page showing all the details of your item should be displayed. If you are told your item number is incorrect, check that you have typed in all 2 letters and 3 digits correctly, and that you have not substituted the letter I for the number 1, or the letter O for the number 0. If you still cannot find the item, you could try a keyword search instead.

When searching for items using keywords, use words which are likely to be in the name or description of the item.

The keyword search only searches for items. It will not find:
Information within the site, such as ’Delivery policy’ (You may instead find what you are looking for in ’Terms & Conditions’ at the bottom of each page)

Finding the right sized frame using an existing frame

One of the best ways to find a frame online that will fit your face is to simply type in the size of your existing frames. Or, if you happen to be in the high street shopping, try on some frames and take note of the size details.

We give you size details on every glasses frame we offer at brilliantspecs.

To find the size of your own frames:


Step 1: Look on the inside of the frame arms/temples for 3 sets of numbers that may appear in one of the following ways

            51-17/135
            51-17 135 
            51∠17/135

KEY: (All in mm) The first number 51 is the Eye Size; the second number 17 is the Bridge Width and the final 3 digit number 135 is the Arm Length

EXAMPLE:

Step 2: If you have not found the measurements where shown in Step 1 try looking on the nose bridge of the frame or on the inside of the right nose pad on plastic frames. The side or arm length can sometimes be stamped on the inside of the plastic end tips.


Step 3: Enter any set of numbers into the general search box provided, with the size they refer to in front. Using the example above you would enter either Eye Size 51, or Bridge 17 or Arm 135 and you should find a Dolce & Gabbana frame as one of the closest matches to your measurements.

TIP: Even if your own frame's Eye Size is 51 (as in the given example), you should also try entering sizes 1mm on either side to give you a broader selection of similar sized frames to choose from. So in addition to typing in Eye Size 51 in the search box, you may wish to try searching for Eye Size 52 or Eye Size 50 as well.

Step 4: Measure your head width in mm from temple to temple. Look for the Frame Width measurement on your selected brilliantspecs frame and check that this figure is similar to or greater than your head width measurement. This means the frame should be wide enough and not too narrow for your face. 

Step 5: Measure the distance from the front of your own frames to the top part of your ear - this should be where the frame's arm starts to bend. Look for the last measurement provided on your brilliantspecs frame selected and check that this is similar to or greater than the length just measured. This means that the arms of your selected frame should be long enough to fit over your ears. Always use the longer measurement as a guide if you have one ear further back than the other.

Adding items to your bag

Whether you have found an item through browsing or searching, a page will be displayed showing all of the details for that item. This page may provide links to further information or additional pictures of the item. None of these links will take you away from the item details page - they will simply open a new smaller window which you can close after viewing the additional information or picture.

If you decide that you are interested in ordering the item, you should select the correct colour and quantity (not all items have all of these options).

When you are happy with your selections, click on the “Add to Shopping Bag” button. You will be informed if the item will take longer than normal to be delivered, and may be offered an alternative item in this case.

After adding this item to your bag, you may also want to take a look at the matching or complementary items shown at the bottom of the page.

Once you have found and added to bag all the products that you want to order, click ‘Proceed to Checkout’, where you can place you order. Please note: your order will not be placed until you click ‘Submit’ on the checkout page.

Login

Once you have registered on the website on the Sign in or Register page, you can sign in to the site at any time using just your sign in (which is your email address) and password. You need to sign in, in order to access the checkout and ‘Your Customer Account’, as this area displays confidential information such as your account history and contact details.

Registering

If you have never shopped with brilliantspecs before and want to place an order you will need to register.This done by clicking on the register button on the top right of your screen. At this point you will be asked for your chosen email address and a password. You will also be asked for the other personal details, such is adress and date pf birth ,that will allow us to proccess any orders you may wish to place.

Changing delivery options

When you arrive at checkout, the delivery options for your order are automatically set so that your order is delivered to your registered address by standard delivery. You can, however, decide to send the order to a different address by clicking the ‘Add new address’ link towards the bottom left of the page. You will be taken to your Address Book, where you can enter a different address and give it a name. When you are returned to the checkout, this new address will be selected. When you go to the checkout in future visits, you will be able to easily select either your registered address or the new address you have added. You can add up to twelve alternative addresses.

Choosing how to pay

If you have a JDWilliams Ltd (or associated companies) account it cannot be used on BrilliantSpecs
To pay for your order by credit or debit card, click the ‘Add credit/debit card’ towards the bottom of the checkout page. You will be taken to a page where you can fill in your card details. You will be given the option to save your card details for use on future visits - be assured that these details are stored securely and your full card number will never be displayed on the screen or in any email from us.

Completing your order

Once you are happy with the items in your bag, and your delivery and payment options, you are ready to submit your order. You do this by clicking on the ‘Submit Order’ button at the bottom of the page. You should only press this button once even though it may take some time for the confirmation screen to appear.
You should receive an email confirming your order within 24 hours (although it may take longer than this if the email is delayed in some way by your email provider).

Occasionally, when our website, or the internet in general, is very busy, the confirmation screen may not appear and instead the screen will display a ‘timed out’ message. It is still likely that your order has been successfully submitted in these circumstances, and you should not place the order again. If you do not receive an email confirming your order within 48 hours, please contact us to check that the order has been placed.
